Most amphibians lay eggs in water.  Only a few amphibian species give birth to live young ones.
Amphibians usually breed in freshwater by laying eggs that hatch into aquatic larvae.  These aquatic larvae then undergo metamorphosis into adult forms that live mainly on land.
