How long does it take to become a physician assistant?

1 Answer(s)

It generally takes about 2-3 years (full-time) to become a Physician Assistant.  There are a few part-time programs that may take a little over 3 years to complete.

- Most programs require a Bachelor’s degree in biology/healthcare related field in addition to completion of a few pre-requisite courses.
– Many programs require students to take a GRE
– If you are an international student that is you completed high school outside of the United States where English is not the primary language, they may require you to take the TOEFL test.
- Most programs require healthcare experience (patient contact experience) prior to admission to a program.

Hope this helps.
