What is QUAD screening ?
QUAD screening consists of 4 tests
It tests for:
– Alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) – protein produced by the developing baby
– Human chorionic gonadotropin (HCG) – hormone made by the placenta
– Estriol, a hormone made by the placenta and baby’s liver
– Inhibit A – hormone made by the pacenta
This test is usually done between weeks 15-20 of pregnancy. This screening test checks for 4 conditions: Down’s syndrome, Edward syndrome, spina bifida, and anencephaly.
Hope this helps.
